David Bowie

David Bowie

Aladdin Sane and Shhh

Both drawings were A3 in size and both were sold in A2 black frames with black mounts.

Medium: Graphite, Prismacolor and Liquid Gold on 300gsm Fabriano Artistico hot pressed paper

I remember first hearing David Bowie in 1971. They were playing Life on Mars? on the radio. Not long after that I saw him perform on TV. Probably Top of the Pops. I was completely blown away. I was 11 years old and I'd never seen or heard anything so totally different and amazing before.

In 2021 between commissions I decided to draw Aladdin Sane. Around a year later in 2022 I was commissioned to draw Shhh.

Back to 2021. Having seen my Aladdin Sane drawing I was commissioned by a Bowie fan to draw this A1 very large portrait of Bowie the person who commissioned me together. I was given a small grainy photo taken in the early 1980s to work with.
